Cherai Tails Update | March 2026
Peshna, our beloved friend and the founder of Cherai Tails, died on 16th March 2026.
We have managed to rehome 13/14 of her permanent resident dogs. Some have found wonderful homes, whereas others are in a shelter, which is not ideal. The money from our fundraiser has been used to care for and rehome Peshna's dogs and pay her debts. We will still be searching for better homes for the shelter dogs, so if anyone would like to adopt or contribute financially, please see the link below.
Pesh donated her body to medical science; she did not have a funeral.
She will be greatly missed.
About Cherai Tails
Cherai Tails is a network that sterilises, vaccinates, feeds and loves the street dogs of Kerala. We are dedicated to improving the lives of stray dogs and other animals through compassion and care and we are entirely funded by kind individuals.

Our Mission
Sterilisation
Sterilisation is our main priority. Fewer puppy litters means less suffering, and our main aim is to befriend as many street dogs as possible to take them to be neutered/spayed and then return them safely to their territory.
Vaccination
Our vaccination drives protect the community dogs from diseases and ensure their overall well-being. We also supply Bracevto to remove Ticks and other Parasites so that the dogs can live more comfortably.
Feeding Program
Cherai Tails runs a feeding program to provide nutritious meals to the street dogs we care for, ensuring they are healthy and nourished. With food security, the Tails are calmer and content and are easier to take in to sterilise.
Adoption
Cherai Beach is a common dumping ground for breeders or people who are 'finished with their pets' These types of dogs cannot survive on the streets, so we rescue them and try to find adopters to give them a second chance. Please contact us via WhatsApp on +44 7714390987 to find out more about adoption.
Since our conception in 2017, we have sterilised close to 1000 dogs and facilitated more than 200 adoptions within India and internationally.
